Behavioral Intervention Team
The Behavioral Intervention Team is an interdisciplinary team proactive in evaluating information and addressing student situations that pose, or may reasonably pose, a threat to the safety and well-being of students or the ÈËÆÞÓÕ»ó campus community. The Behavioral Intervention Team uses a collaborative, coordinated, objective, and supportive approach to crisis prevention.
The Behavioral Intervention Team reviews referrals for concerning student behavior, including risk of harm or violence to self or others, harrassing behavior, and repeated or high-level community disruption.
The Behavioral Intervention Team serves the ÈËÆÞÓÕ»ó community by:
- providing consultation and support to faculty, staff, and students
- gathering and reviewing information
- performing initial assessment of risk and threat
- determining the best mechanisms for support and intervention
- implementing support, interventions and actions
- connecting students with appropriate campus and community resources
- coordinating follow-up and case management services
The Behavioral Intervention Team is founded on the principles of early intervention, proactive engagement, and an ethic of care for students and the campus community. Interventions are individualized to the specific factors of the involved parties and situations.
