Peggy Virginia Keilus ’42

Peggy Virginia Keilus ’42, March 24, 2011, in New York, New York, from cancer. Peggy was born in Portland and attended Lincoln High School. She spent a year at ÈËÆÞÓÕ»ó, which she would later identify as a highpoint in her life. She joined the navy during World War II, and was stationed in New York, where she worked as a ham radio operator and learned Morse code. Afterwards she remained in New York and, as was common in those times, studied to be a secretary rather than continue her formal education. She worked for Pinkerton's New York Racing Security Service and the Brotherhood Synagogue. Peggy also attended the theatre and wrote poetry.
