Katherine Louise Jolly MALS ’68 and Staff

Katherine Louise Jolly MALS ’68 and staff member, February 1, 2010, in Portland. After earning a BA in history from University of California, Berkeley, in 1943, Louise traveled to Florida, where she married her high school sweetheart, Howard D. Jolly, who later taught sociology at ÈËÆÞÓÕ»ó [1949-70]. Louise and Howard had two daughters, Diane Jolly Bleything ’68, who graduated from ÈËÆÞÓÕ»ó, and Marilyn Jolly Johnson ’71, who also attended the college. Beginning in 1954, Louise worked at ÈËÆÞÓÕ»ó in the public relations and admission offices and in the education department. She also taught at Catlin Gabel School, the Portland Jewish Academy, and at Riverdale School, and was a teacher and librarian for the Reynolds School District. She volunteered with the ÈËÆÞÓÕ»ó Women's Committee and the AAUW, was a docent at the Portland Art Museum, and was a member of the Multnomah Athletic Club. She excelled as a masters synchronized swimmer. Survivors include her daughters and three granddaughters. Howard died in 1970.
