James Hamlin Day ’49

James Hamlin Day ’49, October 26, 2008, at the Visiting Nurse and Homecare Hospice House in Vero Beach, Florida. Hamlin came to Oregon from Honolulu, Hawaii, and received a BA from ÈËÆÞÓÕ»ó in education. He also earned an MA from Columbia University in psychology and music. He sang professionally in New York City, had a writing career in public relations, and was president of Day Communications, a publisher of medical and scientific materials. Additionally, he was a member of St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church in Vero Beach, a Master Mason and member of New York Publicity Lodge, and a World War II U.S. Army veteran. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Virginia Baxter Day, who attended ÈËÆÞÓÕ»ó in 1948; a son and daughter; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild, and his sister.
