Narciso Schutz Padilla ’52

Narciso Schutz Padilla ’52, October 20, 2011, in the Philippines. A family friend in the Philippines recommended ÈËÆÞÓÕ»ó as the place for Narciso’s education. Narciso earned a BA in physics from the college and went on to earn an MS in civil engineering at MIT and an MS from Universidad de la Habana in Cuba. In Cuba, he married Maria Martinez and worked as a civil engineer, designing bridges, high-rise buildings, commercial and industrial buildings, and housing projects in North and South America. He also completed studies at the University of Puerto Rico, where he worked as a structural engineer. He then specialized in the Prescon System, a prestressed concrete construction, and returned to the Philippines to establish Prescon Philippines in 1967. He was director of the Philippine Contractors Association and worked in a number of capacities in the concrete business and for his community. Narciso and Maria had a son and daughter and lived in Manila.
